Inspired by the sounds of Jacqueline du Pre to take up the cello at an early age, Karella Mitchell is now enjoying a career as a professional freelance cellist and educator.

Having studied music at a tertiary level Karella has performed in many and varied capacities; as a chamber musician, symphony and chamber orchestra cellist, in rock bands, musicals and session recordings and currently continues her performance engagements as principal cello of Steel City Strings - the Illawarra's premiere chamber ensemble. Karella, who resides in the Shoalhaven, is also a passionate cello teacher and mother of two.
 
Sharing the gift of music at many events, Karella developed an abiding belief in the power and connection of music and the soul. The tones of cello have long been associated with being closest to the human voice and providing a live soundtrack gives room for the experiences of celebration, joy, solace, and reflection.
